Description/Details: On Friday July 20th join us for a visit to the Metropolitian Museum of Art to see their spectacular Costume Institute exhibition - "Heavenly Bodies: Fahsion and the Catholic Imagination." In the Medieval and Byzantine galleries we will view a display of religious items on loan from the Vatican, such as: exquisite Papal robes, accessories, and artworks. These will be presented alng with fabulous fashions from the houses of Gaultier, Dolce and Gabbana, and Versace, in order to examine the relationship between the religious imagination and creativity. The exhibit will attempt to provide an interpretive context and trace the inspiration of Catholicism on the history.
Meet us at 10:45 AM at the Museum (1000 Fifth Avenue and 82nd Streeet) inside the main entrance to the left of the Information Desk, at the benches. This is a self-guided event. Please register to attend by deadline July 13, 2018. Call 212-560-2366 for more information or to register.
Spirit in Action is a group for mature Catholics over 50 years of age, sponsored by the parish of Saint John the Baptist Church (213 West 30 Street). Join us for fellowship through spiritual, cultural, and social events. Membership dues are $25 annually and event costs are affordable.
